Certificate IV in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Governance


This qualification reflects the role of individuals working as board members, contact officers and senior staff within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations. It also applies to public servants working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander boards of governance.

In these roles, individuals bring a wide range of knowledge, skills and experience to the workplace with an acute awareness that they operate in two worlds. They have cultural obligations to their community as well as legal and financial obligations to the wider community and funding bodies.

Course Delivery

The course is delivered in partnership between CWS and a third party provider ATSI ACT and is delivered online.  Online courses are a popular and effective method of delivery.  Studying online allows you to learn in comfort, at a place and time that suits you and lets you manage the courseware at your own pace. The course duration has an allocation of up to 12 months.  If you have a group of people or specific company requirements, we can tailor face-to-face training solutions aligned to your organisational needs.

Certification Requirements


Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

RPL is available to any learner who can provide evidence of competency for the units offered within the qualification.  Please contact us for more information on this process and how to apply.

Administration fee (non-refundable): $200
Enrolment fee (prior to course commencement): $1,300
After completion of the first section of the course: $1,500
Final Fee: $1,500
Total cost of Course: $4,500

With recognition of prior learning this course can be $2,600.
