Defence Training Specialist

About You

You are a qualified and motivated Training Specialist who demonstrates a high level of written and interpersonal skills. You have a strong consulting capability, project experience, and a solid track record delivering quality products and services in the Defence training environment.

About the Role

The successful applicant will be required to conduct thorough analyses of existing training capabilities, courseware and workforce requirements. They will design and develop training and assessment materials. You will liaise closely with key clients to produce detailed written reports and provide recommendations on improved capability, training methods and personnel needs. The ideal candidate will have a defence ground with a communications background.

These outcomes must be achieved in line with the Systems Approach to Defence Learning (SADL) and meet the standards of Australian Defence Force (ADF) Training Policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage training projects
  • Stakeholder engagement and management
  • Analyse current documents, training and workforce requirements
  • Evaluate training systems
  • Validate courses against workplace needs
  • Conduct training and gap analyses
  • Develop Training Requirement Specifications (TRS)
  • Identify training needs
  • Design, develop and implement training
  • Provide recommendations and training solutions
  • Report writing
Essential Requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience delivering services within a Defence training environment
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the Defence Learning Model (DLM) and/or the Systems Approach to Defence Learning (SADL)
  • Experience in an E-learning
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting Training Needs Analysis (TNA) within the Department of Defence (DoD)
  • Excellent knowledge of adult learning and development theories and concepts
  • Ability to manage all working relationships to succeed in complex environments and with multiple stakeholder groups
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team
  • Strong verbal and written communications
  • Exceptional administrative and time management skills
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment
  • Minimum Secret (NV1) Security Clearance
Desirable Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification(s) in training and/or adult education (VET)
  • Experience with gamification, AR, VR, in training
  • Understanding of system administration, networking, user management
  • Understanding of RBAC/ABAC

Workforce Planner

The Capital Workforce Solutions (CWS) team is expanding in response to growing opportunity and demand; we are currently seeking an enthusiastic  Workforce Planning and Training Specialist to join our highly committed team supporting Defence in protecting Australia’s interests. 

About the Role

You are required to hold at least an NV1 security clearance, hold degree qualifications and have 12 years or more experience in Workforce Planning and Training. You will be responsible for:

  • Analysing, designing, developing, implementing and evaluating training and workforce development programs to ensure clients acquire the skills and develop the competencies required to meet organisational strategic and operational objectives.
  • Taking initiative and making decisions within a significant broad work area.
  • Making decisions that impact organisations work, achieving organisational objectives, and financial performance.
  • Absorbing complex information such as technical, financial and quality requirements. 
  • Communicating effectively at all levels to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrating clear leadership. 
  • Understanding and communicating industry developments and the role and impact of technology in modern-day workplaces.
  • Demonstrating the confidence to provide staffing and personnel consultancy services in support of a client’s workforce policies and programs. 
  • Proficient organisational problem solving by analysing organisational structures, methods, systems, and procedures.
  • Promoting compliance with relevant legislation.

You will be ideally based in Adelaide, SA, however, CWS are open to remote working for the right applicant.
